The Cinch Challenge

It all started just over six months ago.  I was fresh off maternity leave from Bug and was struggling with not only my pregnancy weight from Bug, but also my leftover pregnancy weight from Ting.  I was heavier than I had ever been in my entire life.  I was determined and motivated to get the weight off, but I had no idea where to even start.  Money was tight and time was limited. It was going to take something big to get me going.

Then I got an email from the Shaklee Corporation.  I had been selected as one of 50 bloggers to participate in a blog challenge program.  Shaklee would provide a six month supply of their Shaklee 180 products.  All I had to do was use it and blog about my results.

They wanted goals.  What would my goals be? Where did I really want to be in six months?

I typed my goals with dreaded pessimism.  130 lbs, size 8 pants.  I would never be there, but at least I had submitted something.

The day before we began the program, I had Hubby take a "before" picture of me.



I saved it to my computer and didn't even look at it.  I was ashamed at how I looked.  Ashamed at how I felt.  I wrote this, my story of how I had gotten where I was.  And then I began the Shaklee 180 program.

Day One - I did exactly as instructed.  I wasn't hungry.  I wasn't tired.  I felt pretty good.

Day Seven - I was down five pounds! That was all the motivation I would need.  I could do this.

Month One - Another five pounds down.  My goals didn't seem quite so crazy anymore.


With each passing month I would type in my stats on my spread sheet.  I would take my progress picture and be totally and completely amazed at the progress I was making.  This was for real!

And here we are - the finish line.  It has been an amazing six months.  I have met some awesome bloggers who have inspired me to keep going.  A single tweet about my laziness could bring on encouragement from complete strangers.  A facebook post about a struggle was commented on by ladies going through what I went through.

I took my final pictures a few days ago.  I opened up my editing software and got to work on my final collage.  I pulled up my "before" picture.  Ting pointed to it and said "Who is that?"  It made my heart jump with pride.  I have changed so much in the past six months.

I can play with my kids.  I get a "lookin good" from the Hubby when I was by.  I get amazing words of encouragement from my co-workers.

So did I meet my goals???

I DID!

I've been in a size 8 pant for about two months now. I'm also back into my old t-shirts.  As for my other stats:

Weight: 164.2 lb - 135 lb
Waist: 39in - 31 in
Hip: 43 in - 36 in
Bust: 39 in - 34 in
Arm: 12.5 in - 10 in
Thigh: 23.5 in - 20 in

That's 29.2 lb and 26 in down!
